Floors

important things to know when painting

1.   Always follow the instructions on the product label for best results.
2.  Preparation and correct product application are important.
3.  There are no short-cuts.
4.  Always follow the correct drying time recommendations.
5.  Keep the room well ventilated when using an oil-based/solvent based paint.
6.  Do not paint exterior surfaces when rain is expected within 4 hours after paint application.
7.  Do not paint if surface temperatures are below 10 or above 30°C.
8.  Do not paint exterior surfaces in windy conditions.

New Floors

Concrete Floors

Interior – Paint

 

Low to medium traffic floors - not suited for garages & workshops

1. Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination for e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)

2. Sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with a damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).

3. Let surface dry for 2 hours.

4. Apply one coat of “NEO Floor Paint” diluted with 5 to 10% of “NEO Mineral Turpentine” and allow to dry for 24 hours.

5. Apply another coat of  “NEO Floor Paint” undiluted and allow to dry for 24 hours.

NOTE: Apply the paint with a quality brush or Mohair Rolle. Use “NEO Mineral Turpentine” as cleaning solvent.

Heavy traffic floors; suited for garages & workshops

1. Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination for e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)

2. Sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with a damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).

3. Let surface dry for 2 hours.

4. Apply one coat of “NEO Epoxy Floor Paint” diluted with 10% of  “NEO Epoxy Thinner” and allow to dry for 24 hours.

5. Apply another coat “NEO Epoxy Floor Paint” undiluted and allow to dry for 24 hours.

NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Mohair Roller.  Use  “NEO Epoxy Thinner” as cleaning solvent

Concrete Floors

Interior – Stone Sealer

Water Based

1. Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination for e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)

2. Sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).

3. Let dry for 2 hours.

4. Apply two to three coats of  “NEO Stone Sealer (water based)” allowing 8 hours drying time between coats.

5. Allow to dry for 24 hours after final coat.

NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Sheepskin Roller. Use water as cleaning solvent.

Solvent Based

1. Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination for e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)

2. Sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).

3. Let dry for 2 hours. Apply two to three coats of “NEO Stone Sealer (Solvent based)” allowing 8 hours drying time between coats.

4. Allow to dry for 24 hours after final coat.

NOTE: Apply with brush or Mohair Roller. Use  ‘NEO M-Thinner” as cleaning solvent.

Exterior – Paint

Under Roof - not subject to rain or direct sun - not suited for driveways

Only suited for floors which have proper damp proofing installed underneath the floor!

1. Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination for e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)

2. Sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).

3. Let dry for 2 hours. Apply one coat of  “NEO Floor Paint” diluted with 5 to 10% “NEO Mineral Turpentine” and allow to dry for 24 hours.

4. Apply another coat “NEO Floor Paint” undiluted and allow to dry for 24 hours.

NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Mohair Roller.  Use “NEO Mineral Turpentine” as cleaning solvent

In open, but excluding driveways: (Tennis Court Terrea Cotta / Green only)

 1. Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination for e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)

2. Sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).

3. Let dry for 2 hours. Apply one coat of “NEO Salt Stop” and allow to dry for 24 hours.

4. Apply two to three coats “NEO Tennis Court Paint” allowing 4 hours drying time between coats.

5. Allow to dry for 24 hours after final coat.

NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Sheepskin Roller. Use water as cleaning solvent.

Exterior – STONE SEALER

Water Based: (for best results only apply on under roof areas.)

1. Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination for e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)

2. Sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).

3. Let dry for 2 hours.

4. Apply two to three coats of  “NEO Stone Sealer (water based)” allowing 8 hours drying time between coats.

5. Allow to dry for 24 hours after final coat.

NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Sheepskin Roller. Use water as cleaning solvent

Wooden Floors (Interior Only)

Paint

1. Sand in the direction of grain to smooth.

2. Dust properly with damp cloth.

3. Apply one coat of “NEO Floor Paint” diluted with 10% “NEO Mineral Turpentine” and allow to dry for 24 hours.

4. Fill surface imperfections with “NEO Repair Paste” and work off to smooth with moist spatula. Larger imperfections should be filled in 2 mm thick layers and each layer  allowed to dry for 2 hours before the next layer).

5. Allow to dry for 24 hours.

6. Apply one undiluted coat of “NEO Floor Paint” and allow to dry 24 hours.

NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Mohair Roller. Use “NEO Mineral Turpentine” as cleaning solvent

Varnish

1. Sand in the direction of grain to smooth.

2. Dust properly with damp cloth.

3. Apply one coat of “NEO Siegellack” diluted with 10% “NEO Mineral Turpentine” and allow to dry for 24 hours.

4. Sand slightly and dust properly.

5. Apply one to two undiluted coat of “NEO Siegellack” and allow to dry 24 hours (Sand and dust between coats).

NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Mohair Roller. Use ‘NEO Mineral Turpentine” as cleaning solvent.

Renovated floors

Concrete Floors

Interior – Paint

2. Remove any flaking and blistering paint mechanically & make sure existing coating is compatible with “NEO Floor Paint”.

3. Sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).

4. Let dry for 2 hours.

5. Spot prime exposed cement with “NEO Floor Paint” diluted with 5 to 10% “NEO Mineral Turpentine” and allow to dry for 24 hours.

6. Apply another coat “NEO Floor Paint” undiluted over whole surface and allow to dry for 24 hours.

NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Mohair Roller. Use “NEO Mineral Turpentine” as cleaning solvent.

Heavy traffic floors; suited for garages & workshops

3. Sand existing epoxy coating to mat, sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).

4. Let dry for 2 hours. Spot prime bare cement with “NEO Epoxy Floor Paint” diluted with 10% “NEO Epoxy Thinner” and allow to dry for 24 hours.

5. Apply another coat “NEO Epoxy Floor Paint” undiluted and allow to dry for 24 hours.

NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Mohair Roller. Use “NEO Epoxy Thinner” as a cleaning solvent.

Concrete Floors

Interior – Stone Sealer

Water Based

1. Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination for e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)

2. Remove any flaking and blistering existing Sealer mechanically & make sure existing coating is compatible with “NEO Stone Sealer (water based)”.

3. Sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).

4. Let dry for 2 hours. Spot prime bare cement with one coat “NEO Stone Sealer (water based)” and let dry for 8 hours.

5. Apply two coats “NEO Stone Sealer (water based)” over whole surface allowing 8 hours drying time between coats.

6. Allow to dry for 24 hours after final coat.

NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Sheepskin Roller. Use water as a cleaning solvent.

Solvent Based

1. Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination for e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)

2. Remove any flaking and blistering existing Sealer mechanically & make sure existing coating is compatible with “NEO Stone Sealer (solvent based)”.

3. Sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).

4. Let dry for 2 hours. Spot prime bare cement with one coat “NEO Stone Sealer (solvent based) and let dry for 8 hours.

5. Apply two coats “NEO Stone Sealer (solvent based)” over whole surface allowing 8 hours drying time between coats.

6. Allow to dry for 24 hours after final coat.

NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Mohair Roller. Use “NEO M-Thinner” as cleaning solvent.

Exterior – Paint

Under Roof - not subject to rain or direct sun - not suited for driveways

Only suited for floors which have proper damp proofing installed underneath the floor! If existing floor Paint is excessively blistering and peeling, no / damaged damp coring is in place, resulting the paint to fail – such floors cannot be painted.

1. Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination for e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)

2. Remove any flaking and blistering paint mechanically & make sure existing coating is compatible with “NEO Floor Paint”.

3. Sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).

4. Let dry for 2 hours. Spot prime bare cement with “NEO Floor Paint” diluted with 5 to 10% “NEO Mineral Turpentine” and allow to dry for 24 hours.

5. Apply another coat “NEO Floor Paint” undiluted and allow to dry for 24 hours.

NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Mohair Roller.  Use “NEO Mineral Turpentine” as cleaning solvent. 

 

In open, but excluding driveways: (Tennis Court Terrea Cotta / Green only)

1. Make sure the floor is dry and free of any contamination for e.g. oil, grease, soap, etc. (get supplier to measure moisture content)

2. Remove any blistering and peeling paint and make sure existing coating is compatible with “NEO Tennis Court Paint”.

3. Sweep floor twice with soft broom and mop with damp mop (do not wet floor or use dripping wet mop).

4. Let dry for 2 hours. Spot prime bare cement with “NEO Salt Stop” and allow to dry for 24 hours.

5. Apply two coats “NEO Tennis Court Paint” over whole area allowing 4 hours drying time between coats.

6. Allow to dry for 24 hours after final coat.

NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Sheepskin Roller. Use water as cleaning solvent.

2. Make sure existing coating is compatible with “NEO Floor Paint”.

3. Clean properly with damp cloth.

4. Spot prime bare wood with “NEO Floor Paint” diluted with 10% “NEO Mineral Turpentine” and allow to dry for 24 hours.

5. Fill surface imperfections with “NEO Repair Paste” and work off to smooth with moist spatula (Larger imperfections should be filled in 2 mm thick layers and each layer allowed to dry for 2 hours before the next layer).

6. Allow to dry for 24 hours.

7. Apply one undiluted coat of “NEO Floor Paint” over whole area and allow to dry 24 hours.

5. Sand slightly and dust properly. Apply one to two undiluted coat of “NEO Siegellack” over whole area and allow to dry 24 hours (Sand and dust between coats).

NOTE: Apply with a quality brush or Mohair Roller. Use “NEO Mineral Turpentine” as a cleaning solvent.
