ANTI-CORROSIVE PRIMER
CG00

New generation water-based, non-toxic, an anti-corrosive metal primer for use on degreased galvanized steel and rust free, clean and dry mild steel. Suitable as a primer for a range of NEO Paints’ water and solvent based decorative products.
Very effective heavy-duty anti-corrosive metal primer.

Application Areas

• Interior and exterior use.
• Degreased and/or weathered galvanised steel.
• Rust free, clean, dry mild steel.
• Sandblasted steel degreased galvanised metal and aluminium.
• Highly recommended for high-corrosive areas such as coastal regions as well as in industrial environments and mines.
• Can be used as an adhesion promoter on galvanised metal and as primer for old corroded zinc roofs.
• Highly suitable as additional coating for steel primed with NEO Corrotec (ct00).

Product Features

• An anti-corrosive primer suitable for use in the Namibian environment.
• Suitable for use on degreased galvanised steel and rust free mild steel.

• Low odour.
• Based on a water based resin and can be diluted with water. No thinner is required which makes the primer highly cost efficient.
• NEO Corroguard contains no lead or lead derivates, which makes this product environment friendly.
• Developed after extensive testing in our salt spray cabinet and by long-term exposure at Walvis Bay. After one thousand hours exposure in salt spray the test panels showed no failure or deterioration. Other solvent based primers used in comparison failed between 500 to 1 000 hours in salt spray. These tests showed that a water based primer in combination with zinc phosphate and other rust inhibitors can be equal or even superior to conventional solvent based metal primers.
• NEO Corroguard dries to a completely water insoluble, tough and abrasive resistant coating. The dry film thickness should not be less than 30 microns per coat. For coastal use we recommend a two-coat application. In the interior of the country one coat is sufficient.
• Can be over-coated with enamel paints and water based paints.

Application Details
• Mixing Always stir well before use with a flat paddle.
Due to extended storage NEO Corroguard may have a slightly jelly-type consistency. Thorough stirring will lower the viscosity of the primer considerably and result in a ready to use paint.
• Application Method Air or airless spray and brush. Roller application is not recommended.
• Thinning NEO Corroguard is ready for use un-thinned; thinning with water will reduce its hiding power and impair anti-corrosion protection.
• Cleaning Water.
• Application • Stir well before use.
• With a brush or spray, apply a generous coat of NEO Corroguard.
• For very severe cases e.g. in very harsh marine environments, two coats of NEO Corroguard are required.
• Allow to dry 2-4 hours before recoating with NEO Paints’ water or solvent based products.
• NEO Corroguard is ready for use un-thinned; thinning with water will reduce its hiding power and impair anti-corrosion protection.
• Clean up application equipment with clean tap water.
• NEO Corroguard should never be mixed with other products.
• NEO Corroguard should never be used under two pack solvent based products.
• Do not apply before 09:00 and after 16:00 in the winter.
• Although the spreading rate will vary with porosity and type of substrate, for uncoated new surfaces, work on 5-7 square metres per litre for the first coat and 7-9 square metres per litre for subsequent coats and when applied to sealed, previously painted substrates.
• Do not apply exterior if it looks like rain will occur within 4-6 hours of application.
Surface Preparation
• Mild Steel (Renovation) • Affected areas need to be cleaned back to bright metal by hand mechanical or blast cleaning.
• Apply one or two coats of NEO Corroguard by means of brush or spray application, but not by means of a paint roller.
• Mild Steel (New) • Degrease surfaces with NEO Metal Conditioner (mc00) to remove the manufacturer’s grease protective layer. This process is repeated until the surface is water break free.
• After drying, the whole substrate is coated with one or two coats of NEO Corroguard.

 

Colour Range and Quantities

• NEO Corroguard is available in Red oxide only.
• Available in 1 litre and 5litres (20 litres can be supplied on special order).

CORROTEC 

ANTI-CORROSIVE SELF ETCH PRIMER
CT00

A classic, phenolic acid based, acid etch anti-corrosive metal primer for use on degreased galvanized steel and rust free, clean dry mild steel, under a range of NEO Paints’ water and solvent based products.
A fast drying acid curing metal primer with excellent corrosion resistance.

Application Areas

• Interior and exterior use.
• Degreased and/or weathered galvanised steel.
• Rust free, clean, dry, mild steel.
• Clean, degreased aluminium, copper and brass.
• Ideal fast drying shop primer for sandblasted steel and degreased galvanised metal.
• NEO Corrotec is essential for fresh sandblasted steel. It should be applied within minutes after blasting to protect the highly corrosive blasted surface of steel.

Product Features

• An anti-corrosive primer suitable for use in the Namibian environment.
• Excellent adhesion.
• Can be over-coated with a range of NEO Paints’ water and solvent based products (1 and 2 pack systems including epoxies).
• A single pack type etch primer based on phenolic-PVB resin. The primer contains acid, which enhances the adhesion and brings about an exceptional hardness for this coating.
• It is the ideal pre-treatment primer for subsequent recoating with conventional anticorrosive primers, enamel paints, epoxy and polyurethane coatings or chlorinated rubber based topcoats.
• NEO Corrotec is not resistant to prolonged exposure to the environment. Within a reasonable period of time this primer must be protected by additional coating systems.

PINK PRIMER

PI00

A classic, alkyd/oil based primer for interior and especially exterior wood. Specially formulated with oil to feed and nourish the wood so to give the best long term performance for the total system: Provides a very strong and stable base for over-coating with a wide range of NEO Paints’ decorative solvent-based products.

Product Features

• The considerable difference in temperature between day and night in our climate and the resulting expansion of wood makes the use of NEO Pink Primer, a flexible primer with good adhesion, indispensable.
• Excellent adhesion and hiding power.
• Can be top coated with a wide range of NEO Paints’ decorative solvent based products.
• Contains alkyd resin as well as a certain amount of linseed oil. Linseed oil migrates into the wooden substrate and penetrates deeply. Due to this penetration there is an exceptional good bond between the wood and the paint coating.
• This primer is essential for wood that is exposed to the exterior environment.
• One coat of NEO Pink Primer is applied.

Application Details
• Mixing Always stir well before use with a flat paddle.
• Application Method Brush or roller application. Spray application is not recommended.
• Thinning NEO Pink Primer is ready for use un-thinned; thinning with NEO Mineral Turpentine (mt00) will reduce its hiding power.

• Application • Stir well before use.
• With a brush or roller, apply a generous coat of NEO Pink Primer.
• Allow to dry at least overnight before applying topcoat (possibly longer in winter, when the oil can take longer to dry).
• NEO Pink Primer is ready for use un-thinned; thinning with NEO Mineral Turpentine (mt00) will reduce its hiding power.
• Clean up application equipment with NEO Mineral Turpentine (mt00).
• Do not eat, drink or smoke whilst using the product.
• Do not apply before 09:00 and after 16:00 in the winter.
• Although the spreading rate will vary with porosity and type of substrate, for uncoated new surfaces work on 5-7 square metres per litre.
• Do not apply exterior if it looks like rain will occur within 4-6 hours of application.

• Wood or Fibre Board • The wood must be dry, seasoned and all knots and cracks sealed.
• Prime wood with one coat of NEO Pink Primer.
• Allow to dry for at least 24 hours.
• Apply one coat of NEO Universal Undercoat (wu00).
• Apply two final coats of any NEO Paints’ enamel paint.

• NEO Pink Primer is available in light Pink only.
• Available in 1 litre and 5 litres.

A classic, alkyd based, general purpose undercoat, which has been specially formulated to give the best long term performance for the total system. Provides a very strong and stable base for over-coating with a wide range of NEO Paints’ water and solvent based products.

Application Areas

• Interior and exterior use.
• As an undercoat for plaster, hardboard and fibre cement walls.
• As an undercoat for primed metal and wooden substrates, fibre boards and hard boards.
• Can also be used as an intermediate coat on walls to be finished with enamel paint.
• Wooden products that are exposed to the environment should firstly be primed with NEO Pink Primer (pi00).

Product Features

• A quick drying and very smooth undercoat.
• Excellent adhesion and hiding power.
• Can be top coated with a wide range of NEO Paints’ water and solvent based products.
• Fast drying and quick hardening product. Once hard and firm it can be sanded to a smooth surface before the application of the final coating, if required.
• For interior use on wood and fibre boards, NEO Universal Undercoat serves as primer as well.
• NEO Universal Undercoat should never be applied directly on fresh, new plaster. Since this product is not alkaline resistant it will blister and flake off. For such a purpose use NEO Acrylic Wall Primer (ap00).

• Uncoated concrete surfaces
• Raw / New Plaster
• Precast		 • Make sure surface is dry and firm.
• Remove all dust, foreign material, fungal and algae growth.
• Fill and seal all visible cracks with NEO Aurora Filler (ef00) or NEO Repair Paste (nrp07).
• Apply one coat of NEO Bonding Liquid (ig00) to cover NEO Aurora Filler (ef00) or NEO Repair Paste (nrp07).
• Sand well and remove dust.
• Apply one coat of NEO Acrylic Wall Primer (ap00).
• With brush or roller, apply a generous coat of NEO Universal Undercoat.
• Allow to dry overnight before applying topcoat.
• Uncoated, Weathered or New Fibre Cement Surfaces • Remove dust, foreign material, fungal and algae growth.
• If friable or powdery, seal with NEO Bonding Liquid (ig00).
• Apply one coat of NEO Acrylic Wall Primer (ap00).
• With brush or roller, apply a generous coat of NEO Universal Undercoat.
• Allow to dry overnight before applying topcoat.
• Previously Painted Surfaces
• Precast		 • Surface must be in a sound condition.
• Existing gloss finishes should be well sanded.
• Remove all loose, flaking and bubbling paint.
• Remove all dust, foreign material, fungal and algae growth.
• Allow to dry.
• Fill and seal all visible cracks with NEO Aurora Filler (ef00) or NEO Repair Paste (nrp07).
• Apply one coat of NEO Bonding Liquid (ig00) to cover NEO Aurora Filler (ef00) or NEO Repair Paste (nrp07).
• With brush or roller, apply a generous coat of NEO Universal Undercoat.
• Allow to dry overnight before applying topcoat.

 

Colour Range and Quantities

• NEO Universal Undercoat is available in White only but other colours can be supplied in minimum batch quantities.
• Available in 1 litre, 5 litres and 20 litres.

ZINC CHROMATE

UNIVERSAL PRIMER
 ZC00

A universal, solvent-based, anti-corrosive metal primer. The product contains the proven anti-corrosive agent zinc chromate. A classic alkyd and zinc chromate based corrosion resistant primer for use on mild steel. Specially formulated to give good long term performance for the total system when used to provide a very strong and stable base for over-coating with a range of NEO Paints’ solvent-based products.

• Interior and exterior use.
• Mild steel substrates.
• This primer is not suitable to prime galvanized metal.

Product Features

• Excellent corrosion protection.
• Excellent adhesion and hiding power.
• Can be top-coated with a wide range of NEO Paints’ decorative solvent-based products.
• NEO Zinc Chromate should not be used as a base for two-component or highly chemical resistant coatings. In such cases, NEO Corroguard (cg00) or NEO Corrotec (ct00) is recommended.
• A simple to use very effective metal primer, which prevents corrosion on steel through its anti-corrosive abilities and through protection. 
• The coating dries to a hard, resistant coating which can be over-coated with undercoat and all types of enamel paints.
• NEO Zinc Chromate contains a certain amount of zinc chromates. Although it poses no danger for the applicator, it can be harmful when removing the old paint coating by sandblasting or grinding. An alternative product based on non-toxic zinc phosphate, is NEO Corroguard (cg00).

• With brush or spray, apply a generous coat of NEO Zinc Chromate.
• For very severe cases e.g. in very harsh marine environments, two coats of NEO Zinc Chromate are required.
• Thereafter apply one coat of NEO Universal Undercoat (wu00) and two final enamel based coats.

• Do not apply exterior if it looks like rain will occur within 4-6 hours of application.

 

Surface Preparation
 Wood, PVC Pipes, Ceramic Tiles, Melamine and Fiber Glass
(Renovation)		 Affected areas need to be sanded by hand or mechanical.
Apply one coat of NEO Multi Purpose Primer by means of brush, roller or spray application.
 Wood, PVC Pipes, Ceramic Tiles, Melamine and Fiber Glass
(New)		  Sand surface to be painted well.
Apply one or two coats of NEO Multi Purpose Primer by means of brush, roller or spray application.

 

Colour Range and Quantities

NEO Multi-Purpose Primer is available in white only.
Available in 1 liter and 5litres (20 liters can be supplied on special order).

Precautions

NEO Multi Purpose Primer is not flammable.
Contains no toxic ingredients and very low VOC levels (EU regulations).
